Origin / quality features

The seeds of the soybean are required for the production of soybean oil. The oil is produced in the processing of soy anyway, since soybeans are used for the production of animal feed. When processing in an oil mill, the oil leaks out anyway. However, soybean oil always has to be refined and chemically extracted, as it tastes very bitter in its natural form and contains ingredients that are harmful to the human organism. Virgin soybean oil is therefore not available in normal stores. The refined oil is light yellow and has only a very mild aroma. The most important growing countries for soy are the USA, Brazil , China and Argentina.

Use in the kitchen

Soybean oil has a mild and almost neutral taste. Especially in Asian cuisine, the oil is often used for frying, as the smoke point is well over 200 degrees. So you can deep-fry, fry, cook and bake with soybean oil. In this country soybean oil is sometimes used to refine cold dishes. However, it is most commonly used in salads, mayonnaise, dips and sauces. Soybean oil can be kept sealed for up to twelve months. Once a bottle has been opened, it should be used up after three months at the latest. Dark and cool storage is mandatory.

Health Benefits of Soybean Oil

Soybean oil consists of around 79 percent monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids. It also contains significant amounts of vitamin E and K. The cholesterol may benefit from regular consumption of oil. This can prevent heart attacks and cardiovascular diseases. A strengthening of the immune system can also be expected from the consumption of soybean oil.
